International Coach Federation Foundation Presents Inaugural Culture of Giving and Gift of Coaching Awards

ICF Foundation honors ICF Chapters for work with nonprofit organizations.

Lexington, Kentucky, USA— The International Coach Federation (ICF) Foundation presented its inaugural Culture of Giving and Gift of Coaching Awards at an October 29, 2015, ceremony held during ICF Advance: Forward in Portland, Oregon, USA.

The ICF Foundation’s Gift of Coaching Awards program recognizes ICF Chapters with impactful pro bono coaching initiatives that make a difference in their local communities. 2015 applicants were judged according to four criteria: alignment of mission and vision, governance practices, learning effectiveness, and outcomes demonstrating participant value and positive community impact. Our Year End Meeting was filled with Connection, Learning and Inspiration. The members and guests were the "stars" of the luncheon since they were the program.

It was great fun hearing members and guests introduce each other. Two different pairs of attendees reconnected after as much as ten years since seeing each other. Connections were made that will make 2013 a year of growth and innovation.

Members and guests were given the opportunity to share something about themselves during the "open mic." We congratulated a newly certified coach and celebrated the recent publication of a book. Sackeena set the tone with reminding us that we coach for Physical, Mental and Spiritual empowerment.

We ended 2012 with pride in our accomplishments and with dreams of our future. We begin 2013 with optimism and enthusiasm to Connect, Learn and Inspire.

Second Cutting Edge Conversation on Getting Paid

Eighteen coaches met at Brasa on Wednesday, 8/22 to engage in the Cutting Edge Conversation around fee setting. Talking about money can be sensitive, but Rosemary Somich set the tone by asking each person to anonymously write his or her fees on an index card and turn it in to her. She then read the answers to launch the conversation.

We had a diverse group, from a person who has been coaching for twenty years to others who are in training. The reported fees were as diverse as the coaches' experience. The conversation was lively, and the camaraderie was palpable.

Towards Building a Coaching Practice that Rocks

Twenty six coaches attended the July meeting to hear Vicki Bevenour give an informative, engaging and entertaining presentation "Eight Steps Towards Building a Coaching Practice that Rocks".

Six of the steps are:

A solid support system is a must.
Find your ideal client and make them love you.
Network strategically: find where your ideal clients network and go there.
Only you can market yourself in the beginning.
Constant learning is the way to stay on top of your game.
Set your price and stick with it.

First Cutting Edge Conversation

The Inaugural Cutting Edge Conversations took place on Wednesday June 27, 2012. Ten powerful coaches attended and enjoyed the conversation led by Stephanie McDilda. Stephanie did an extraordinary job of giving us critical information and facilitating the conversation. The topic "The Low Down on Coaching" from Stephanie's article with the same title was about the clear, and not so clear, differences in coaching, consulting, therapy and teaching. It was great to engage in meaningful dialogue about a coaching issue, with ample time for discussion. Since each person came from a different training program, the various perspectives added spice to the conversation while the attendees learned each other at a deeper level.

Cutting Edge Conversations are a result of the member survey in which members indicated they wanted something in the evening for those who are internal coaches, and they wanted a venue in which they could have dialogue about hot topics in coaching.

Cutting Edge Conversation are scheduled every other month and the next one will be on Wednesday, August 22, 4:30 PM at Brasa in Brier Creek.
