CCEUs Approved:  1.5 Core Competencies

When you were a new coach did you focus on asking questions? Has that changed with experience? We will explore the effect on coaching of shifting attention from the “self” that asks questions to the “self” as a coaching tool. We will do this experimentally with a series of exercises in which participants work in pairs to coach each other using these two different manifestations of “self.” Come prepared to coach and be coached. Registrants will be sent two articles to read before the April Durham Cutting Edge Conversation.

Participants should leave with greater awareness of:

• How focus on using our “self” as a tool differs from focus on using our skills

• How these two points of focus impact our coaching

• How use-of-“self” contributes to our coaching presence
