Program Description

This program explores the possible connection between JEDI concepts and the beliefs and experiences of clients. One role of a coach is to serve as a “thought” partner to clients in the goal setting process. Oftentimes during coaching sessions, it is revealed that the most challenging barriers our clients encounter to goal accomplishment are rooted in personal beliefs and/or experiences. Participants will gain an increased awareness of how the JEDI concepts can create barriers for clients and coaches along with suggestions on ways to identify the whether the concepts form the foundation for barriers.

Objectives:

  • Exploration of Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI)  concepts and insightful coaching
  • Develop a list of “JEDI” awareness coaching “trigger” words, phrases and other cues
  • Examine how a coach might use possible words, phrases and other cues as “JEDI” coaching awareness triggers

Dr. Mary Holland Russell serves in the capacity of a corporate training specialist. Of her many responsibilities, Dr. Russell is most passionate about the role she plays in ensuring leaders have the skills to provide safe environments for those they lead and encounter. The type environment conducive to uncovering potential and encouraging high productivity. As a training specialist, Mary uses her expertise in professional coaching, awareness inventories and emotional intelligence to evaluate and create research-based leadership development experiences.

Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Russell continues to explore and learn about the impact of essential (soft) skills on success in the workplace-- now and in the future. Currently, she spends time enhancing her understanding of the concepts “upskilling” and “reskilling” and how to develop content that best prepares others for the mindset needed to embrace both.
