Coaching Clients Leaving Corporate Life Behind

July 15, 2022 | 12:00 - 1:30pm ET

CCEUs- 1 Core Competencies and .5 Resource Development Credits

Many successful individuals receive retirement guidance throughout their careers from professional coaches and mentors, but the primary focus on post-corporate life is on ensuring financial health in retirement.

When a client's corporate career comes to an end - whether by choice or circumstance - it represents a significant life-changing transition that comes with emotional challenges that most people are simply unprepared for. That transition is our focus at LifeWork.

In this program, we will share what we have learned about this transition, namely:

• Emotional challenges surrounding “retirement” transitions

• Redefining the purpose of life without work

• Coaching for the challenge of approaching a “second act” that is beyond planning financial health

Our interactive program will invite coaches to share their thoughts and success around coaching client transitions.

Meet the presenter: Steve Brechbiel

Steve joined LifeWork as its first Regional Director in January 2020, charged with launching the organization in the Research Triangle. LifeWork is focused on helping late-career professionals successfully transition into their “second act” as their corporate career comes to an end.

In 2017, he created SteveBNC, a consulting firm that provides communication and community relations services. His clients include companies in the nonprofit, clinical research, and automotive sectors.

Earlier, Steve enjoyed a successful career at Quintiles (now IQVIA), the world’s largest provider of clinical research and biopharma services. As the Senior Director of Community Relations, he led the company’s philanthropic and community programs. He joined Quintiles in 2000 as Director of Communications for the Global Clinical business unit, and later served as Senior Director of Communications for Global Human Resources. His communications career began during his 17 years of service at Reichhold, a global manufacturer of specialty chemicals. Starting as a Communication Specialist, his last position there was Director, Corporate Communications, and he was responsible for all aspects of communications, public relations, and community relations.

Steve is a Wake County substitute teacher, past chair of the Regional Transportation Alliance, and a former member of the Policy Advisory Committee for RDU Vision 2040. He also served as chairman of the non-partisan NC Center for Public Policy Research and as a member of the NC Graduation Task Force. He received a BS in Education with a concentration in English from Villanova University.
